Meet Lydia, our April Bride of the Month! She and her fiance, Garron, are getting married in March 2017 in Enterprise, Alabama!
How did he propose? Garron is from Flint, Michigan and I am from a small town in Alabama. He and I met through one of my girlfriends in March of 2012 in New York City. I was interning with a television news station at the time, and he was in town visiting friends who were vacationing in NY. We met on the sidewalk outside of my apartment.
On my birthday in 2015, his gift to me was tickets to the NY Yankees baseball game on the Fourth of July. This was our first trip to NY since we first met in 2012. I wanted to visit my old apartment because I had not been to it in three years. We took a picture in front of it, and after the picture he dropped down on one knee and proposed. Both of our families were hiding out across the street, and they captured the moment. I had no idea they all flew to New York for the engagement.
What has been the most difficult and the most fun part of the wedding planning process? The most difficult part of wedding planning has been a combination of planning, school and distance. Our wedding will be in my hometown in Alabama. Garron works in athletics at a university in Michigan, and I am finishing law school in Kansas City. Luckily, my decorator, director and mother are a huge help with the process, but our schedules sometimes make things more difficult.
The most fun part of the planning was dress shopping. I said yes to the dress at Winnie Couture in Atlanta the weekend of Bridal Extravaganza. It was the first dress that I tried on, and it was absolutely perfect. Sharing the moment with my mother was simply priceless.
Congratulations Lydia and Garron! We can’t wait to see the wedding photos!
