Incorporating the Pantone Color of the Year in Your Wedding

Each year we anxiously await Pantone’s release of the color of the year. Pantone’s color select predicts color trends for fashion, interior design and of course, wedding planning. Whether you like the color or not, it always evokes emotion.

Pantone’s 2018 color of the year is, drumroll…..Ultra Violet! Very bold and very unexpected, we are more than excited to see this quirky, yet beautiful color throughout the year.

Pantone Vice President Laurie Pressman said about the color: “Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.”

Purple is traditionally seen as a rather majestic color that strikes the balance of calming peace and bold empowerment. Of what the color means for the year ahead, Pressman said, “I see this very much as an optimistic color, an empowering color. We want to find some peace and calm within ourselves…quiet our minds.” We’ll raise a glass to that in the midst of wedding planning!

So how does this color play out in weddings? Well, we’ve seen hints of the color at Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta in our wedding galleries. The most predictive was the ultraviolet signage by Raw Sound and Lighting. Couples glowed in front of the ultraviolet light for picture-perfect moments.

But we know violet is a bold color and could be intimidating for the color-averse, but you don’t have to use the color in every detail to stand out. Use the color in small designs, like this small table arrangement from Atlanta Botanical Gardens’ display at Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta.

If you love the color, include it in a large statement-making arrangement like this gorgeous floral design by Imperial Events at Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta in August.

Whether it’s the smallest details or large, over-the-top lighting and flowers, using the Pantone color of the year in your wedding can ensure your wedding is on-trend, daring and elegant.

What do you think of UltraViolet in weddings?
