How did he propose? The first place Thomas and I spent a significant amount of time together was at Passion City Church in Atlanta one weekend with Thomas’s sister, Elizabeth. This past December, Thomas asked if I would like to go back to Passion City Church to celebrate our year and a half dating anniversary. He also made reservations for the two of us at Benihana’s to celebrate. After we sat down at our table, Thomas asked if I could stand up because he had a few things he wanted to tell me. He told me how his love for me had remained constant, despite any ups and downs in our relationship. Then he asked me to marry him as his best friend and soulmate!

On the drive home, I asked Thomas if I should call some friends and family to let them know that he had proposed. But Thomas told me they already knew! We then pulled up to my parent’s driveway and saw all of my closest family and friends there to greet us. Thomas had surprised me again! It was a truly special day that I will never forget.

What are the most fun and most difficult parts of the wedding planning process? I have loved getting to plan the ceremony because it is neat to be able to choose how you would like to capture and express your love for one another in front of family and friends. I have also enjoyed all of the many ways that family and friends have expressed their love and support for us, through encouragement, cards, gifts and by offering to throw us showers. The experience has been truly priceless, and something I will always be thankful for and cherish.

Overall, I think the two most challenging parts of planning were setting a date and figuring out the guest list. All of a sudden you find yourself with a much bigger guest list than you were expecting, and are faced with the decision to either narrow it down or simply have a bigger wedding. This process can be frustrating, but in the end it is all worth it when you get to celebrate one of the most important days of your life with family and friends by your side.

Congratulations Emily and Thomas! We can’t wait to see the wedding photos!
