Epperly TravelMeet Lindsey Epperly of Epperly Travel!

How long have you been working in the business/wedding industry?
5 years

Where are you originally from?
Columbus, GA

Married or single?
Single

If single, what do you want your wedding to be like?
Being in the travel business, I’m a huge fan of destination weddings – some of our partner properties have the most stunning areas, like the cloisters at the One&Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas, or the palm-tree laced backdrop of the St. Regis Punta Mita.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I’m a big reader and writer – I enjoy spending time writing travel-related pieces for my blog or freelancing for magazines.

Favorite place in Atlanta for dinner?
246 tops my list after I recently enjoyed the chef’s tasting experience – Andrew Isabella can whip up a dish that easily rivals Michelin starred restaurants I’ve been to during my travels.

Favorite place to vacation?
South Africa has been my all time favorite destination – it makes for a very cool honeymoon, too! Travelers who want to a very unique spot will not be disappointed in the combination of wildlife, relaxation, and culture that you can find here – it’s truly out of this world.

Favorite social media outlet?
Instagram! I’m having a lot of fun with the Epperly Travel account going through my old travel photos and showing clients how to #getawayfromhere

Anchored by Pantone’s Color of the Year, Crème de le Chic Events brought elegant edge to their lavish designs at the Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta. Designers, Victoria and Laura, share their inspiration:

Creme Inspiration

For the Keurig area, we wanted to offer a dramatic showcase of the Keurig machines that blend seamlessly into our design. We arranged two seating areas within the lounge to incorporate and showcase furniture rentals. We incorporated black and white furniture with an assortment of accent pillows throughout to carry the Old Hollywood theme and Keurig branding into the lounge.

The Keurig area also showcased our Crème de le Chic estate table. The estate table featured a dramatic set up of mirror, gold, black and white with pops of the new Pantone Marsala color and a subtle touch of spring time blue. The landscape for the table coordinated with the stage area, setting the tone for a formal, spring time evening dinner event. Above the estate table hung a crystal chandelier with white ostrich feathers lining the top. The reflection of the crystal chandelier on the estate table enhanced the “glam” factor with the existing arrangements on the table.

For the stage, area we wanted to give the impression the models are being showcased during an elegant Spring Time Old Hollywood premier! We included a luscious green “living” wall that resembled classic garden boxwoods. This wall was framed in champagne draping that set the tone for a formal Spring time affair including gold framed mirrors lined with small clusters of white flowers and feathers.

The bachelorette party is a highlight of the exciting engagement season for many brides. It’s a great time to cut loose, blow off planning stress and make lovely/hysterical/embarrassing memories with your besties. While many automatically associate bach parties with strippers, booze and phallic paraphernalia, today’s bachelorette has so many more options! Check out our 24 ideas fun things to do for your bachelorette bash:

bachpartyideas

1. Weekend Getaway – whether it’s the beach, lake, mountains or whatever you prefer, just get outta town!

bach7

2. Perfume Party – schedule an appointment with a pro to create a signature scent to wear on your wedding day

3. Scavenger Hunt

4. Shop for Bridesmaids’ Wedding Accessories – take your girls out to pick out the earrings/shoes/etc that they’ll wear on the wedding day

5. Mixology Class – learn to make cocktails like a pro with a class taught by a pro!

bach5

6. Comedy Club

7. BYOB Art Class – you get to drink while making your own party favor: win-win!

8. Pole Dancing/Burlesque Class – Regardless of whether the class turns into an hour-long giggle fit or you actually end up learning a move or two, this will be an experience you and your friends won’t forget!

9. Music Festival – flower crowns mandatory

bach6

10. Winery/Brewery Tour and Tasting

11. VIP Club Night– complete with limo and bottle service

12. Photoshoot – get dolled up and schedule a shoot with a pro photographer in a fun setting like a botanical garden or an artsy neighborhood complete with graffiti! Keep it light and casual since you’ll be getting plenty of formal, posed shots on the wedding day.

bach8

13. Barre Class

14. Amusement park – let your inner child out by spending a day in the sunshine riding roller coasters and eating overpriced junk food. (We strongly suggest you do not plan this activity after a long night of drinking.)

15. Beauty Day – spend day being pampered at the spa or splurge on glamorous blowouts

16. Camping/Glamping

bach7

17. Dance Lessons – make sure your friends are ready to bust a move during your reception. Schedule a salsa or ballroom dance class to brush up on your skills!

18. Road Trip – playlist complete with high school throwback hits is a must

19. Dude Ranch

20. Figure drawing class – somewhat of cross between going to a strip club and an art class. It’s a chance to try something new and see your shy friend blush for a full hour.

21. Old school sleepover – junk food, movies, gossip and games. Just like when you were little… but with wine.

bach9

22. Psychic reading

23. Volunteer – take a break from the “all about me” planning you’ve been doing for the past several months and get your girls together to give back to others. Spend a day helping to build a new home for someone in need or register the group for a charity run/walk!

24. Drag Show

bachparty

An important aspect to each of these ideas – be sure to have a good camera or, at least, well-charged phones to document the fun!

Meet Danielle – our Bride of the Week! She and her fiancé, Will, are getting married in April 2015 at the The Reserve at Oak Bowery in Lafayette, AL.

Danielle M

How did he propose?

Will and I were on a trip to Stone Mountain, GA for his birthday. His mom had given me a wrapped gift for him to open that weekend. Will drove us to a secluded spot in the woods next to a beautiful lake and we parked our fold up chairs and the gift to enjoy the scene and celebrate his birthday. Will then told me the gift was for me and I opened it to find a gorgeous jewelry box that he had engraved with “The Middleton’s”. I looked up to find him on one knee where he asked me to marry him!

What has been the most fun and the most difficult part of the wedding planning process?

The most fun part of the wedding planning so far has been meeting with vendors, trying on dresses, and spending time with family and friends talking about plans! The most difficult part will be taking all the thousands of ideas in my head and making them a reality!

Congratulations, Danielle and Will!

Who is your best friend? My best friend is named Lorenzo. He is a great listener, absolutely loves my cooking even when I forget three ingredients and kind of burn it, and is never in a bad mood. The other day I asked him what he thought about being in my wedding party someday. He didn’t say anything. At first I was kind of insulted, but then I realized that if I was a black and tan Corgi I would not be caught dead in a charcoal gray suit either. I mean, that would like totally clash. So once we nixed the groomsmen idea (because I am not budging on the gray suits), we sat down and brainstormed some ideas together that were a little more appealing to Lorenzo. For all you out there with fashion forward furry best friends, here is what we came up with:

  1. 1Walk the ring down the aisle. This job assignment is going to be a better fit for pets on the calmer, more obedient side. The best way to do this is have a special friend or family member that is familiar with your pet walk them down the aisle. The pairing of these two is important! For example, your three year old flower girl who is terrified of dogs is probably not the best choice. This can be a great opportunity to involve someone in your wedding ceremony who did not quite fit into the wedding party, but is an important part of your life. If you have a pet who is excellent at coming on command, you may be tempted to just have them walk down the aisle themselves. Make sure that being surrounded by an aisle of laughing, oohing and ahhing people is not going to distract them! Either way, you can order collars that have ring pillows attached. Practice runs are key here.
  2. Sweeten your wedding pictures! Your pet can be an adorable addition to the wedding photos. You can choose to include them in just your group photos in the beginning, or make a night of it! Have someone walk around with your pet throughout the night and get your guests to pose with them! This can make a funny, and adorable coffee table book of pictures to look through someday. If you have a photo booth, and an animal friendly booth operator, station your pet at the booth for an hour as a fun addition to the photos. This is a better option for pets that love to be held and get lots of attention!
  3. Let them beg for tips. Some of us have pets that are not quite up to wedding guest standards. Create a tip jar for your bartenders to use that has a picture of your pet begging on it. It will get some laughs and your bartending staff will love you for it!
  4. Donate to your favorite animal based charity in place of a favor for your guests. Create a sign with your pets picture letting your guests know that a contribution was made in their honor!
  5. Involve them in your table numbers. Do you own 6 pets? Ditch the table numbers and instead name each table after one of your furry friends. If you want to put a little time into it, create a theme that matches your wedding and have a little photo shoot with your pets so you can include a picture of each pet at the corresponding table.
  6. Have a lot of guests in attendance with pets at home? Pick your pet’s favorite treat and offer it as a favor to your guests to take home to their furry friends. In order to include everyone, offer a treat for dogs and cats, along with a third option that is to be enjoyed by their owners.
  7. Include them on your save the date. Have a fun photo taken with your pet holding a sign with all your wedding info. Have a turtle? Paint your date on his shell (with turtle friendly paint) and take a picture. Stage a wedding scene of your cat and dog getting married. You get the picture; style it any way you want!

2

If you choose to go with an option that includes bringing your pet to you wedding, keep a few things in mind. Not all venues will allow pets, so before you set your heart on bringing them, make sure it is okay! You also need to choose a handler for your pet that day. This person needs to be responsible for getting your pet to and from the wedding at the appropriate times, as well as caring for them during the event. If you do not think it is wise to have your pet there for the duration of the event, make sure you pick someone that will be okay with departing early. You may want to hire someone for this task so no one is missing out on part of your event, not to mention it would be best for your handler to remain sober for the safety of your pet. If your event is out of town, also ensure that you have pet friendly lodging.

Meet LaTonia – our Bride of the Week! She and her fiancé, Robert, are getting married in March 2015 at the 850 Building in Forest Park, GA.

LaTonia D

How did he propose?
He had the ring hidden behind the pillow in his bedroom and brought me in to tell me how much I meant to him and how much he loved me. He pulled the box from behind the pillow (which I had been sitting on, but didn’t know there was a ring hidden under) and got down on one knee to ask, “Would you marry me?” It was very private, personal and special.

What has been the most fun and the most difficult part of the wedding planning process?
The most fun part of the wedding planning process is the fact that we chose not to have a wedding planner, but to plan the wedding ourselves. That way we get to create what we want, how we want. Most grooms just do “men things” (i.e. shop for tux, bachelor party, etc.) but my fiancé is “hands in.” He has even helped to pick out the flower girl dresses, which are so cute! The most difficult part of the wedding process would also have to be planning it ourselves. Trying to tackle everything on our lists by March can be a challenge, especially with transitioning into a new job, moving and other obligations. But it will all come together and we are going to make it happen for a beautiful wedding day!

Congratulations, LaTonia and Robert!

The actors from the year’s best films hit the red carpet looking like royalty for the 87th Academy Awards. While many are discussing the best and worst dressed, we’re focusing on bride-style inspiration straight from the stars! Several celebs looked downright bridal, sporting whites, blushes and other soft neutrals. Even trends hot off of the Bridal Fashion Week runways were on display, including all-over embellishment, off-the-shoulder sleeves and barely-there color. Atlanta’s top wedding professionals always bring their A-game to the Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta. They pull out all the stops to show brides their talent, creativity and keen eye for hot trends. Check out some of the big 2015 wedding trends on display at the Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta in January!

Rich Color Palettes
Marsala, Pantone’s color of the year, helped to set the tone for a trend we’ll be seeing in a lot of weddings: use of deep colors. The demand for pastels and bright pops of color are subsiding as brides gravitate toward rich hues for a more sophisticated feel.

Gowns with Conservative Necklines
Though strapless remains a staple in gown designs, we’re seeing many more modest necklines on the runways and walking down aisles. The higher cut often draws the eye automatically upward to the real star of the show: the bride. Sweet details and added embellishment keep the look elegant and demure instead of stuffy.

Metallic Gold Accents
A touch of shine can add a glam factor to many wedding elements. From cakes and cutlery to invitations and decor, brides are seeking subtle ways to incorporate luxe luster into their design schemes.

Dessert Bars
While traditional wedding cakes will never go out of style, fun dessert bars are adding a sweet touch to receptions. Brides and grooms love showing their personalities by offering their favorites confections, and guests love having options to choose from. Plus, a display of decadent desserts always provide more lovely photos!
